Webinar with Dr. Mullen
The
webinar will compact a 4 hr seminar into 30 minutes for a summary on the book
and how it applies to us:
·
Book focuses on productivity when working
with other people
·
Are we working at our potential? What is our
potential?
·
Number one thing that holds us back is how we think
o
Negative thoughts negatively impact us
·
3 systems:
o
Mental Hardware-Physical
equipment we are born with (nerves and connection) if lose thought control,
than you have a mood disorder
§ Depression
is greatly affecting our society and is an increasing problemà ”invisible
handicap on our productivity”
§ Most
people wait too long and they crash before they go for help
§ Comparing
mood disorder to a vision problem
·
Number one problem is you can’t shut your
mind off
·
Mostly starts during adolescence
·
Will notice personality change
·
Moodswings-Upswing: energized
·
All from changes in chemicals in the mind
·
Medication is prescribed to restore mood
control
·
Early
detection and looking for help is very important
o
Mental Software
§ Patterns
of thinking that was learned
§ All
of our experiences are stored in our emotional baggage
§ Most
important is how we interpret our events
§ Our
experiences eventually becomes “autopiloted” and directs up
·
Ex. If you have great hardware but bad
software, you can’t get anywhere
§ Self
esteem
·
If you have low self esteem, you may become a
successful adult but still feel like a weak child or wear a mask to block
yourself off
·
Adds to our emotional baggage
·
Leads to isolation
·
How to deal with it: Talk to a counsellor
o
Mental Operating System
§ Personal
spirit
§ You
need a meaning and purposeàtreat your spirit as important as the
hardware and software
o
Need all 3 components to work well
o
There are many resources you can find on Dr.
Mullen’s website, talk to a counsellor, etc.
o
If you address all of the issues, you will
succeed
·
Questions/comments:
o
We will be doing a personal development
session on how to diagnose yourself
o
How to tell if you have an abnormal mood:
§ if
you can’t stop thinking about something for months or years or
§ if you
are so driven, you keep going and
can’t slow down (elevated mood doesn’t mean happy, it just means higher than
normal emotions)
§ This
has to be LONG TERM to be diagnosed as a mood disorder
o
Different types of seminars by Dr. Mullen:
does combining seminars cut the cost? YES (cost is per session)
o
“Soul”: mind, will and emotion = personality
(can become a learned disorder)
o
Does requiring excessive sleep mean you have
a disorder? It is just whether they are relaxed or not while you are sleeping
(unrelaxed state could be a mood disorder)
